Miracle teenager Aaliyah Hart was dubbed Britain’s smallest baby when she was born three months premature 16 years ago. But today, the hardworking teen picked up her GCSE results, an achievement her mum didn't think she would live to see. Doctors at Birmingham's City Hospital gave the tot only a 1% chance of survival after discovering her lungs had not developed properly. Little Aaliyah weighed in at 12oz (340g) and was measured at seven inches when she was born in 2003 – comparable to a mobile phone. After picking up her results, Aaliyah will now start at a Performing Arts course at Solihull College in September. She received three grade threes in Performing Arts, English Literature and English Language, twos in Religious Education and Food Preparation and a one in Science. Proud mum Lorrraine, 58, said: "I'm very proud of her, especially as a single mum, we are just normal people. "I never thought she'd live to take GCSEs, she has come a long way and she doesn't need to go for check-ups anymore. "She's small for her age but healthy. "Doctors and teachers always said she would struggle due to learning difficulties. It's an achievement for her just to take the exams. "I think she'll do really well in performing arts because she was into theatre at school. "She's got a shy personality and I think more life and work experience will help her. "We might go out for a meal later, she's not really fussy. "I'll give her a gift, maybe a nice chain for when she enrols at college. I'm a very proud mum today."
